Moving to Suffolk: Why Choose Martlesham?

Houses for Sale - Stowmarket

There’s plenty of towns and villages to choose from if you’re looking to move to the county of Suffolk. In this post, we’ll discuss the many benefits of moving to Martlesham.

Education Opportunities

If you’re interested in purchasing a property in this wonderful Suffolk town, you may be interested in the quality of education. Choosing a school for your children can be a difficult decision, and in Martlesham, there’s plenty of choice!

Birchwood Primary School

Birchwood Primary School is Martlesham’s very own primary school, and as of May 2024, is one of the two Ofsted outstanding primary schools in the local area – if your children are 4-11 years old, this would be a great choice. To learn more about Birchwood Primary School, visit their website today.

Kesgrave High School

Although just outside of the Martlesham area, Kesgrave High School (rated good by Ofsted) is the local secondary school for those living in Martlesham. Only a short bus journey away (or bike ride if you live close enough!), you can learn more about Kesgrave High School at their website.

Employment Opportunities

If you’re looking for a new Martlesham home, you’ll likely be interested in the selection of local employment opportunities. Although Martlesham is smaller than some of its other local towns and villages, there’s still plenty of opportunities here to take advantage of! If you’re looking to work in a larger town or city, Martlesham is close to Ipswich, and a selection of nearby towns.

Local Transportation

Martlesham offers easy access to both the A12 and A14, allowing you to reach Ipswich in around 15 minutes, Colchester in around 40 minutes, and Lowestoft in just over an hour. Martlesham’s convenient location provides opportunities for family day trips and exploring potential employment options in the nearby towns and cities.

Although Martlesham doesn’t have a train station of its own, Martlesham does have its own Park and Ride, allowing you easy access to train stations in Ipswich and Woodbridge. If you don’t drive, you may be more interested in moving to one of Suffolks other towns, such as Stowmarket.

Community & Events

There’s plenty of community events that take place in Martlesham, below are some examples of what to expect!

    Martlesham Heath Aviation Society events
    Monthly farmers market
Football, Cricket & more sporting events
    And many more!

There’s also plenty of other community events hosted each month across the county – there’s never a shortage of things to do in Suffolk!

With great local schools, employment opportunities and a wide range of local events, Martlesham is a great place to settle down and raise a family. If you’re looking for a property in Martlesham, or have any questions about what’s available in the local area, get in touch with us today!
